June 15 – Just In Time for Father’s Day
It’s Father’s Day weekend!!! What do you plan to do for this Father’s Day? In this article, we are focusing on the new dads or dads-to-be, so if you are still looking for options, check out our suggestions!
Being a father is life changing and exciting, but sometimes it can be daunting, especially with the first child. While some are feeling the pressure, “Now I really have to be a role model”, “I have to work harder to make sure my family is taken care of”, “Oh, I hope I could be a great father like my dad”, others may be feeling the fear, “Oh, I don’t want to be like my father”, “I hope my kid would like me”, “I hope my kid doesn’t turn out like me.” All these feelings are often overlooked by many as they focus on the mothers, often they are suppressed by the men themselves.
Fathers tend to be misunderstood too, as they have difficulty expressing themselves. Some were mistaken as workaholic and running away from reality when they take a shorter paternity leave, while they are actually trying to secure their jobs to ensure financial stability. Some were mistaken as disliking their babies when the nurturing doesn’t come intuitively like the mother’s.
So, this Father’s Day let’s give the dads-to-be and the new dads a real pat on the shoulder! Here’re some suggestions
- Get it in gifts. Cliché… but sure! Why not? Now it’s only his dad getting gifts, he gets one too.
- Get it in writing. Have other kids who can write already? Get them involved in writing a card or even better, make one!
- Get it in drawing. Have other kids that can’t write yet? Get them to doodle something for daddy.
- Get it in picture. This works for any moms with newborns too! A picture is worth a thousand words! Just get in front of the camera, iphone, or even webcam and CLICK!
- Get it in voice. Kiddy and baby voice are adorable! Get them to join in a simple message recording, or mumbling will do! With the iphone technology and whatnot, dads will always have it with him wherever he goes. Whenever he needs some encouragement, he can play the recording “Daddy, you’re the best!” and suddenly he will feel it’s all worth it!
- Get it in party. Baby not out yet? Throw a simple party (usually baby showers are for the moms, why not throw one for the dad too?) or an intimate moment of two before the little one arrives, encouraging each other for the new adventure!
Are you ready to celebrate Father’s Day now?

May 3 – Not sure about yours, my Mom ROCKS!!!
Yeehaa! Are you ready for Mother’s Day, coz we are! This Mother’s Day the theme is Mommy Rocks. Ofcourse! Our moms have sacrificed much for us, from giving birth to us and raising us up! Seems like easy words, but guess how many days that involves… if you think 1 day of bloated stomach is uncomfortable, think about 280 days of that; if you think 1 day of baby sitting is unbearable, think about at least 7300 days of no sick leave, no vacation and ya! absolutely no quitting!! Don’t our moms rock??!?
Nuff’ said, check out our cute Mother’s Day concerts with Hello Kitty and Mr. Pupp & Co. Ha! Both teams are equally cute. One has background singers, the other has dancers! Get it rocking baby!
Till next time,
LUV
April 23 – Kitty Republic Limited Collection
As promised, the Kitty Republic special edition diaper cakes and party supplies are here, inspired by the April showers and cherry blossoms. This edition features the fact that you can throw a great baby shower with a small supply. For example, our Hello Kitty picks – mixed bows package is enough to set up a theme on your finger food party. Sparingly place the bow pics here and there on your finger food (I have seen many people put picks on each cupcupcake, which is nice, but it’s not necessary if you are on a tight budget), and place the hello kitty pick on your floral centerpiece or popcorn bucket, and voila, you’ve got a theme! the stylish Hello Kitty:
Of course, if you are a Hello Kitty die-hard fan and opt to buy more, we will help you save through our reusable party supplies. Consider our Hello Kitty favor holder. It can be re-used later as cup sleeve when your guest purchases coffee or tea at their favorite joints (We are painfully aware that Tim Hortons does not offer sleeves but gives out double cups instead).
Or, purchase our Hello Kitty stand or Hello Kitty Easel, that you can use and re-use as many different forms – menu holder, picture holder, theme card holder, table number stand, etc. You name it! The point is, we want to be environmentally friendly, as I’ve always emphasized!
Another important point: this movie Machine Gun Preacher has a very deep impact on me. Though one may argue that we live in a different part of the world, I do agree that out of sight doesn’t mean out of thought, we are still on the same earth. We don’t have to pretend to live a poor life if we are financially blessed, spend if you must, or even party if you want to, but always keep the poor in mind. So LUV wants to help you do that! For each purchase on the party supplies, LUV will donate 13% of the sale price (it’s like paying no tax!) to charities which tend to be overlooked by the big corporations. We hope to be able to help from the local Salvation Army, World Vision, to the international justice such as Ratanak International, Women for Orphans and Widows (WOW), and the Angel of East Africa.
So, let’s partner up! LUV promises to work hard and create many creative supplies for you to enjoy and in turn to give back as much as we can to our community and our world. Stay tune!
Oh, last but not least, let’s see some decor ideas for this Hello Kitty theme:

April 17 – Kitty Republic from Japan
Visited Toronto High Park for the cherry blossoms lately, and it’s amazing as always. Borrowing some pictures from my friend:
Two seasons I absolutely love… spring and autumn! Sakura (cherry blossom) and Kaede (maple) never fail to inspire. Came back and started to prepare some Taste of Japan party supplies and diaper cake, it’s the one and only – HELLO KITTY… the first set here:
I will soon post it under the Party Supply shop soon.
stay tune!
April 6 – Centsational Party
Hi everyone, happy Easter! Planning a party this weekend? After a cold long winter, spring is really worth celebrating. Since I just wrapped up an afternoon high tea / evening bbq, thought I would share a bit about my 2 cents towards a centsational party, one that’s friendly to the environment and your pocket!
Throwing a party shouldn’t be dreading and draining, the point is to entertain and have fun with people we care about. To me, the three main ingredients to a perfect party are: simple food, complementing drinks, and a load of laughters… You don’t even have to make those food if you don’t want to, just grab some dishes from your favorite grocery store. Sometimes even wc (wine and cheese, not water closet) or bp (beer and popcorn) can simply be enough. Remember, be a classy host, not a messy one.
A theme or some coordinating decor can make a simple party extra special, it helps with choosing the food and drinks too. However, you don’t always have to dash off to stores to buy party supplies and then feel bad when you run out of room to store them, or worse, when you have to throw them out. Look around the house, and you will be surprise how many versatile things you have lying around. For example, if you don’t have a cake stand, simply put a plate on top of a martini glass or a dipping bowl. You can even do a row of both, adding some dimension to your decor.
If you really love to entertain, pay attention to some items at the dollar store where you use again and again in different ways. I love this square artificial grass from Dollarama:
I can picture it being used as a table runner, a coaster, a decor fence on shopping window, a lollipop / cake pop stand, a favor holder, etc. and that’s just my imaginations, you have yours too. The sky is the limit. For my spring high tea, I used them as my table runner / coaster.
But I think it works just well as a favor holder for a baby shower around Easter time!
Another thing is the cute favor eggs you see in the picture, you can fill them up with any kind of favor, say… for Easter chocolate, candies, little toys (i call them: egg stuffers! haha!) or even popcorns if you are planning a baby shower with “Ready to Pop” theme. Guests would have fun popping the egg for some popcorns. It works not only for Easter theme party, it is also suitable for any theme that has to do with eggs, like Dinosaurus or Ready to Hatch.
So, you may ask, “Hmm… I still need to store them somewhere, no?” Yes, for sure if you want to reuse them. And not sure about you, I surely do not have a lot of space in my house to store things. So, I box some (like those fragile bone china which I have no hutch to showcase them in
) and mask the others somewhere around the house. Like this one – my high tea 3-tier cake stand becomes a spice / fruit stands on my kitchen counter on daily basis.
And back to the eggs, the beauty about them is that if you have some left over, get an egg box (you know you throw a lot of those out often, now you can start saving some!) or even a mini cupcake baking tray, put these eggs upside down, and TADAA!! Help yourself to some organizers… pins! clips! stickers! embelishments! If you like to craft, like me, you know that we can never have too many organizers… :p
So… party, save, and be merry!
